Welcome To Stockport & District Society of Model Engineers Ltd

Affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers

Stockport and District Society of Model Engineers was founded in 1946 and currently has over 100 members. Whilst the principle activity consists of building and running model steam locomotives in all gauges, including 7¼", 5", 3½", 2½", 0 gauge and G1, our members have wide ranging interests which cover virtually the whole of the model engineering spectrum. Boat building (steam, power, yachts and full size steam), radio controlled model aircraft, traction engines (model and full size), clock making, tool making and of course some who just like to come along and have a chat. Membership is open to all.

Regrettably we had to vacate our old site a the Royal School for the Deaf in Handforth and for the past 2years we have been without a track. However, we have recently reached an agreement with the Stockport Council that will allow us to build a new track in South Park. Planning approval has been granted and work has started.

The Society holds meetings twice monthly, on the first and third Fridays, at the Royal School for the Deaf on Stanley Rd Cheadle Hulme.

If you would like to join the best model engineering socety in the country, please contact either me or our secretary John Black.

This website will develope over time as more content is added to it. I rely on all members to supply me with content and pictures for inclusion.
